Malang Regency Residents' Weekly Fruit Expenditure

The average expenditure of people in Malang Regency for purchasing watermelon in 2023 was Rp524.16 per capita per week. This figure surged compared to the previous year's expenditure, which was recorded at Rp482.62 per capita per week.

The five largest expenditures of residents for fruits in Malang Regency, from highest to lowest, were spent on durian at Rp2,104.72 per capita per week, Ambon banana at Rp769.53 per capita per week, other bananas at Rp734.55 per capita per week, pomelo at Rp685.4 per capita per week, and the lowest was spent on mangoes at Rp6.08 per capita per week.

Average per capita expenditure is the cost incurred for the consumption of all household members over a month, whether from purchases, gifts, or self-production, divided by the number of household members. Household consumption is differentiated into food and non-food consumption without considering the origin of the goods and is limited to household needs only, excluding consumption/expenditure for business purposes or given to other parties.

Expenditure for food consumption is calculated weekly, while non-food consumption is calculated monthly and for the past 12 months. Both food and non-food consumption are then converted into average monthly expenditure. The average per capita consumption/expenditure figures presented in BPS publications are obtained by dividing the total consumption of all households (both consuming food and non-food) by the total population.

According to the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) publication, the average per capita expenditure in this regency reached Rp1.32 million per capita per month in March 2023. This figure increased by 32.56% compared to March 2022, which was Rp995,920 per capita per month.

Based on region, the highest expenditure for purchasing watermelon was in Lamandau Regency and the lowest in East Manggarai Regency. Malang Regency's expenditure for purchasing watermelon ranked 163rd. Meanwhile, the national average per capita expenditure for purchasing watermelon is Rp253 per capita per week.
