The top five, starting with the highest, are Balikpapan City, Central Jakarta City, South Jakarta City, West Jakarta City, and East Jakarta City, with 4.92, 4.47, 4.47, 3.22, and 3.02 tests per 1,000 people per week, respectively.
Balikpapan City ranks first. With a population of 646,020, the number of people tested was 4.92 per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 11.67 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week.
Next is Central Jakarta City. The population is 913,720. In an effort to prevent the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested was 4.47 per 1,000 people per week. The positive rate in this region is 14.8 percent, also higher than the previous week.
Following this, West Jakarta City recorded 3.22 tests per 1,000 people per week, and East Jakarta City recorded 3.02 tests per 1,000 people per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron variant's impact in various regions, based on national Covid-19 data, 105 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher daily number of tests compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, 184 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of tests include Balikpapan City, Badung, and Mimika, with 4.92, 2.56, and 2.19 tests per 1,000 people per week, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
