On Tuesday, September 7, 2021, Indonesia saw a resurgence in COVID-19 cases, signaling a renewed increase in the spread of the virus across most regions of the country. Thirty provinces recorded a higher number of new positive COVID-19 cases than the previous day, while five provinces reported fewer cases.
Even compared to previous days, yesterday's daily growth rate was relatively high. Four provinces recorded the highest daily growth, exceeding 200 percent. These regions are Southeast Sulawesi, Gorontalo, West Kalimantan, and West Sumatra. For these four provinces, yesterday's data showed an average increase of 115.5 confirmed positive COVID-19 cases.

Southeast Sulawesi reported 35 new confirmed positive cases, compared to only five the previous day. According to the Ministry of Health, the largest group of COVID-19 positive individuals in this region is the adult group (31-45 years old), numbering 6,260 people, while the smallest group is toddlers (0-5 years old) with 352 people.
Gorontalo is second, with 38 new cases. The percentage increase in confirmed positive cases reached 375 percent. The highest number of cases recorded in the last month was on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at 207 cases.
In Gorontalo, a total of 11,385 people tested positive for COVID-19, with 1,219 still undergoing treatment. The largest age group of positive cases in this region is young adults (19-30 years old) with 3,430 people. The smallest group reported is toddlers (0-5 years old) with 189 people.
West Kalimantan also broke its record with the highest number of cases at 254, representing a 225.64 percent increase. The largest group of COVID-19 positive individuals in this region is adults (31-45 years old) with 9,695 people. This is followed by young adults (19-30 years old) with 8,447, early seniors (46-59 years old) with 6,997, the elderly (over 60 years old) with 4,096, and children (6-18 years old) with 3,708. The smallest group is toddlers (0-5 years old) with 794 people.
The weekly bed occupancy rate (BOR) in this region is improving. This morning, the BOR was recorded at 21.9 percent, lower than the previous day's 22.3 percent. This is a significant improvement compared to the last 15 days, when it reached 30.6 percent.
According to the Ministry of Health, the weekly confirmed positive cases per 100,000 people in West Kalimantan have also decreased from 33 cases to 28.5 cases.
