East Java Province Had the Highest Egg Production in Indonesia in 2021

The Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) recorded that egg production in East Java reached 1.74 million tons in 2021. This figure was the highest among all Indonesian provinces.

East Java's egg production in 2021 accounted for 29.44% of the national egg production, which totaled 5.93 million tons. The province has consistently had the highest egg production for the past five years.

Central Java followed with egg production reaching 751,860 tons in 2021, representing 12.68% of the national total.

West Java ranked third, with egg production reaching 689,780 tons or 11.79%. North Sumatra and Banten followed, producing 510,850 tons (8.65%) and 310,080 tons (5.23%) of the national total, respectively.

West Sumatra produced 301,270 tons of eggs (5.08%), followed by Lampung with 247,690 tons (4.17%), South Sulawesi with 234,360 tons (3.95%), South Sumatra with 219,930 tons (3.71%), and Bali with 211,380 tons (3.56%).

Kementan also noted that egg production includes eggs from native chickens, laying hens, quails, ducks, and Manila ducks. The calculated production includes eggs that were hatched, damaged, traded, consumed, and given away.
