Tech giant Yahoo is about to conduct a mass layoff affecting approximately 1,000 employees in the near future. This represents 20% of its total workforce.
“The cuts will impact nearly 50% of Yahoo's advertising technology employees by the end of the year, including nearly 1,000 employees this week,” Yahoo management stated, as quoted by *Katadata.co.id* from Reuters on Friday (February 10th).
The layoffs are described as part of a large-scale restructuring of its advertising technology division. This decision has also led Yahoo to make several adjustments.
Yahoo plans to narrow its focus and investment on its flagship advertising business, known as DSP, or demand-side platform.
Management also reasoned that the cuts were made because many advertisers have reduced their marketing budgets. High inflation and uncertainty about the impact of a recession are cited as drivers of these budget reductions.
