Based on data collected by the Turkish news agency, Anadolu Agency, the United States (US) spent approximately US$779 million during the first 24 hours of its attack-along with Israel-on Iran, which began on Saturday (28/2/2026).
These costs consist of five components. The launch of Tomahawk cruise missiles was the largest, accounting for 43.7% of the total estimated cost.
"Although the exact amount is still classified, estimates suggest that around 200 Tomahawk missiles were launched, with a total ammunition cost of US$340.4 million," Anadolu Agency wrote in its report.
Secondly, the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) deployed various fighter jets, including F-18s, F-16s, F-22s, and F-35s in the initial attack.
Based on flight hours, maintenance costs, and ammunition demand data from the US Department's 2025 and 2026 budget requests, the operation is estimated to have cost US$271.34 million (34.8%).
The third largest component is support, reconnaissance, and HIMARS, which is estimated to have cost US$122.2 million or 15.7% of the total estimated cost.
The other component is the deployment of four B-2 stealth bombers, whose operations could cost around US$30.2 million (3.9%).
According to Anadolu Agency, this figure is based on flight hours, maintenance costs, and ammunition demand data from the US Department of Defense's 2025 and 2026 budget requests.
Two US aircraft carriers in the region, the USS Abraham Lincoln and the USS Gerald R. Ford, also participated in the initial attack.
Anadolu Agency estimated that the operational costs of these aircraft carriers, along with a contingent of destroyers and coastal combat ships, are estimated to reach US$15 million (1.9%).
"By combining these costs, the total estimated cost of the US attack carried out last Saturday alone reaches US$779.174 million, or about 0.1% of the US defense budget for 2026," said Anadolu Agency.
