Soekarno-Hatta Airport was the busiest airport in Southeast Asia in March 2023, according to a report by the Official Airline Guide (OAG). OAG's calculation is based on flight seat capacity.
The airport, located in Indonesia, had a seat capacity of 2.95 million passengers in March 2023.
"Jakarta remains the airport with the largest capacity in Southeast Asia this month, although Singapore is not far behind, with only 146,000 fewer (passenger) seats," the OAG report quoted on Wednesday (22/3/2023).
Changi Airport in Singapore ranked second with the highest flight seat capacity in Southeast Asia in March 2023, reaching 2.81 million passenger seats.
Suvarnabhumi Airport in Thailand ranked third with a total of 2.59 million passenger seats. Kuala Lumpur International Airport ranked fourth with a total of 2.38 million passenger seats.

The OAG report noted that the total airline capacity in March 2023 reached 34.85 million passenger seats in Southeast Asia. Specifically, 21.98 million seats were from domestic flights and 12.87 million seats were from international flights.
Although up from March 2022, overall airline capacity in Southeast Asia was still 20% lower than in March 2019. International airline capacity in March 2023 was still contracted by 31% compared to March 2019, while domestic capacity was contracted by 13% compared to the same period.
