Is Indonesian Export Improving?

On October 15, 2019, the Central Bureau of Statistics released data showing Indonesia's export value in September 2019 reached US$14.1 billion. This figure decreased by 1.29 percent from the previous month and also shrank by 5.74 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.

National export performance has not shown improvement, as seen in the graph. September 2019 exports were the lowest in the last three months and also the smallest compared to the same month in the last three years. Cumulatively, the export value for the January-September 2019 period decreased by 8% compared to the same period of the previous year, but was higher than the same period in 2017.

In September 2019, oil and gas exports experienced the largest decline, namely 5.17% compared to the previous month and also fell by 37.13% compared to September 2018. Similarly, the manufacturing sector decreased by 3.51% from the previous month and shrank by 0.44% compared to September of the previous year.
