China: Indonesia's Highest Value Non-Oil and Gas Importer in Q3 2025

According to Statistics Indonesia (BPS), Indonesia's total import value until the end of September 2025 reached US$176.32 billion. Of this value, the non-oil and gas contribution amounted to US$152.58 billion, or 86.54% of the total.

BPS stated that among the 10 main non-oil and gas categories, imports of electrical machinery/equipment and parts experienced the highest increase, valued at US$2.65 billion or 13.19% compared to the same period last year (cumulative-to-cumulative/ctc).

"Meanwhile, the iron and steel category experienced the largest decrease, valued at US$0.88 billion (11.31% [ctc])," BPS explained in its report.

Based on the country of origin, Indonesia's largest import value came from China, reaching US$62.07 billion, followed by imports from Japan, valued at US$11.01 billion.

• Japan: US$11.01 billion
• United States: US$7.33 billion
• Thailand: US$6.83 billion
• Singapore: US$6.74 billion
• Australia: US$6.18 billion
• South Korea: US$5.85 billion
• Malaysia: US$4.34 billion
• India: US$3.50 billion
• Taiwan: US$3.31 billion
• Germany: US$2.64 billion
• Italy: US$1.31 billion
• Netherlands: US$630.40 million.

Indonesia's non-oil and gas import value from China surged by 19.33% (ctc) by the end of the third quarter of 2025. This increase was the highest, followed by import value from Taiwan, which jumped by 19.10% (ctc).
