National Food Agency Requests Rp31 Trillion Budget Increase for 2025 Food Assistance

The National Food Agency (Bapanas) has requested an additional Rp31 trillion budget from the DPR (House of Representatives) for food aid in 2025.

"We propose an additional budget for the National Food Agency in 2025 for the management and distribution of government food reserves, through food assistance, SPHP (Price and Supply Stabilization Program), and other outlets," said Bapanas Head Arief Prasetyo Adi in a working meeting with Commission IV of the DPR on Tuesday (19/11/2024).

The additional budget is planned to be used for rice food assistance worth Rp29.39 trillion. This assistance will be distributed to 16 million beneficiary families (KPM), each receiving 10 kilograms (kg).

"This rice food assistance is not merely assistance, but it is a government intervention in maintaining inflation and also related to purchasing power," said Arief.

Then, the planned allocation of food assistance in the form of chicken meat and eggs worth Rp831.98 billion is intended for 1.5 million families at risk of stunting through the provision of 1 kg of chicken meat and 10 eggs for 6 months.

Furthermore, corn food assistance worth Rp474.92 billion will be channeled for the SPHP program weighing 250 million kg and a final stock of 60 million kg.

Finally, there is soybean food assistance worth Rp308.26 billion for SPHP weighing 100 million kg and a final stock of 20 million kg.
