Shopee is the most frequently used online selling platform by local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

This is evident from the report "The Role of Digital Platforms in the Development of MSMEs in Indonesia" released by the research institution INDEF.

In December 2023, INDEF conducted a survey of 254 MSMEs spread across Jabodetabek (30%), non-Jabodetabek Java (50%), and outside Java (20%).

These MSMEs were selected using non-probability sampling through purposive sampling technique.

The results showed that the majority, or 36.22%, of the MSME respondents most frequently used the Shopee application for online selling.

A significant number also more frequently used Facebook Marketplace (18.50%), online food delivery applications (16.93%), and Instagram Shop (14.96%).

Meanwhile, the proportion of respondents who frequently used TikTok Shop, WhatsApp, Tokopedia, Lazada, and other applications/platforms was smaller, as shown in the graph.
