89.6% Growth: MSMEs Increasingly Seek Funding in the Capital Market

The number of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) raising funds in the capital market or through securities crowdfunding (SCF) reached 237 issuers as of June 3, 2022, according to a report by the Financial Services Authority (OJK). This figure represents an 89.60% year-to-date (YTD) increase compared to the same period last year.

In 2021, the number of MSMEs raising funds through SCF was 125 issuers. This was a decrease compared to 2020, which saw 127 issuers.

The trend shows a steady increase in the number of MSMEs raising funds in the capital market over the past four years. In 2018, the number was only 14 issuers. This means there has been a nearly 1,600% increase as of June 3, 2022.

Meanwhile, the total number of investors in SCF reached 111,351 as of June 3. This is an approximately 18.80% YTD increase compared to 2021, when there were 93,733 investors.

The total funding raised through SCF reached Rp507.20 billion from the beginning of the year to June 3, 2022. This represents a 22.75% increase from the total funds raised throughout 2021.

To date, there are 10 OJK-licensed SCF organizers or platforms.
