Indonesians show a strong interest in buying homes. This is evident in the research report *Property Recap: The Youth Moves*, released by Rumah123.com in December 2024.

"For landed houses, all age groups, both young and old, tend to prefer buying a house (either secondhand or new) over renting," the report states.

In the 18-24 age group sample, the majority, or 51.6%, chose to buy a secondhand house. Then 26.2% chose to buy a new house, and only 22.2% opted to rent.

Similar findings were observed in other age group samples, with over 50% choosing to buy a secondhand house, and over 20% opting to buy a new house, as shown in the graph.

Rumah123.com's research also identified the most sought-after segments of the landed house market. Generally, houses priced between Rp1 billion and Rp3 billion are favored across all age groups.

"However, upon closer examination, the proportion of younger generations choosing houses in the lower price segment is higher," they stated.

Landed houses priced below Rp400 million are most popular among the 18-24 age group, accounting for 18.8%.

Meanwhile, houses priced above Rp5 billion are most favored by the 45-54 age group, with a proportion of 16.3%.

"This difference is due to the preference of younger generations to adjust their choices to their financial capabilities, which are still in the early stages of building economic stability," wrote Rumah123.com.

Note that these findings are based on an analysis of Rumah123.com's property consumer data, with a research period of January-November 2024.
