Political Charter: Jokowi's Candidate Wins Medan Regional Elections with 55.29% of the Vote

Charta Politika's quick count results at 10:47 PM WIB on Wednesday, December 9th, regarding the Medan Head of Regional Elections (Pilkada), show the mayoral candidate pair Bobby Afif Nasution & Aulia Rachman leading with 55.29%, compared to their rivals Akhyar Nasution and Salman Alfarisy at 44.71%. In the Medan Pilkada contest, the son-in-law of President Joko Widodo and his running mate are supported by a coalition of eight parties: PDI-P, Gerindra Party, Golkar, NasDem, Hanura, PAN, PSI, and PPP.

A total of 1,601,001 people were registered on the Permanent Voter List (DPT) in the region. For information, the 2020 Simultaneous Regional Head Elections (Pilkada) were completed in 270 regions, comprising 9 provinces, 224 regencies, and 37 cities.

In the 2020 Simultaneous Pilkada, Charta Politika Indonesia conducted quick counts in 5 provinces (Jambi, South Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, and Central Sulawesi), 2 regencies (Tanah Bumbu and North Minahasa), and 4 cities (Medan, South Tangerang, Surakarta, and Surabaya). The sampling process was conducted randomly using the Stratified Cluster Sampling method, with a margin of error of +/- 1 percent and a 99% confidence level.
