There are several important reasons for exercising one's right to vote in the 2024 General Election (Pemilu 2024), according to Indonesian citizens. These views were gathered in a survey released in July 2023 by Praxis, a research and public relations agency.
Interestingly, the largest proportion stemmed from concerns about, or a desire to avoid, misuse of the right to vote by irresponsible parties, chosen by 56.50% of respondents.
Reasons related to the prospective leaders ranked second. Specifically, the desire for change from previous leaders was selected by 49.28% of respondents.
The third reason was the desire to contribute to the nation's future, at 46.21%.
Fourth, feeling that participating in the election is a responsibility as an Indonesian citizen was chosen by 42.6% of respondents.
Fifth, the hope for the continuation of programs from previous leaders, at 27.98%.
Note that in this survey topic, respondents could select up to three answers.
The survey involved 1,108 respondents spread across 12 provinces: West Java, DKI Jakarta, Central Java, Yogyakarta, East Java, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Banten, South Sumatra, Lampung, Riau, and South Sulawesi.
The proportion of female respondents was 62.45% and male respondents 37.55%. The highest number of respondents had education levels below elementary/junior high/high school, and Bachelor's degrees.
The survey was conducted from July 14-17, 2023, using proportional multistage random sampling methodology. The margin of error is approximately 2.5% with a 90% confidence level.

* Having the same vision and mission as the presidential and vice-presidential candidates: 21.57%
* Not wanting one particular presidential and vice-presidential pair to win: 7.49%
