Hundreds of Civil Servants Showed Political Bias in the 2024 Elections; Here Are Their Positions

The Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) recorded 450 civil servants (ASN) reported to the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) for alleged violations of neutrality in the 2024 General Election.

"Of that number, 240 ASN were found guilty and sanctioned, while 180 ASN have been followed up by the PPK with the imposition of sanctions," said Home Minister Tito Karnavian in a working meeting with Commission II of the DPR RI on Monday (25/3/2024).

The ASN found to have violated neutrality in the 2024 General Election mostly came from functional positions, with a proportion of 23.3%.

Then 22.9% of ASN who committed similar violations came from High-Ranking Positions (JPT), 18.3% from executive positions, 16.7% from regional heads such as sub-district heads or village heads, and 10.4% from administrators.

Tito also revealed the five most common forms of neutrality violations committed by ASN.

The most frequent violation was posting, commenting, sharing, and liking posts on the accounts supporting specific election candidates, with a proportion of 15.8%.

Then there were those who participated in campaign activities (12.9%), conducted activities that indicated bias towards a particular political party or candidate (10.8%), and became members and/or officials of a political party (7.1%).
