Gubernatorial and vice-gubernatorial candidates Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) and Djarot Saiful Hidayat received the highest number of votes at the polling stations (TPS) in Kalijodo, Pejagalan, Penjaringan, North Jakarta. The incumbent pair won in TPS 18, TPS 20, and TPS 21, the polling stations closest to the former nightlife area of Kalijodo, which has been transformed into a city park. In the final debate of the 2017 Jakarta gubernatorial election, Ahok described Kalijodo as now being "world-class."
In TPS 18, Ahok-Djarot garnered 441 votes out of a total of 543 votes cast. Then, in TPS 20, located on the left side of the Kalijodo park, the pair (number 2 on the ballot) won with 155 votes out of 279 votes cast. Similarly, in TPS 21, Ahok-Djarot obtained 111 votes out of 216 votes cast.
During the Ahok-Djarot administration, the Jakarta Provincial Government successfully evicted the nightlife area, which had been a center of prostitution and gambling since the Dutch colonial era, in February 2016. The area has now been transformed into a city park enjoyed by residents of all ages. Previously, the eviction process was protracted due to resistance from Kalijodo residents.
