Dutch GP Winner Verstappen Tops the 2023 F1 World Championship Standings

The 13th Formula 1 (F1) race, held at the Zandvoort Circuit in the Netherlands on Sunday, August 27, 2023, concluded with Red Bull Racing driver Max Verstappen securing another victory.

The weather conditions at the circuit were challenging. Heavy rain hit Zandvoort just halfway through the first lap, making the track slippery.

The race was temporarily suspended on lap 65 due to worsening track conditions. After a one-hour delay, the race resumed.

Verstappen, starting from pole position, immediately took the lead and completed all 72 laps. Aston Martin secured second place, and Pierre Gasly finished third.

Verstappen's points total increased to 339, marking his 11th win of the season. This achievement equals the record of Sebastian Vettel, the world champion who retired in 2022, for winning 9 consecutive races in a single season.

Verstappen's Red Bull Racing teammate, Sergio Perez, is in second place in the standings with 201 points, followed by Fernando Alonso with 168 points.
