List of 11 Panelists for the Second Vice Presidential Debate: Majority are Academics

The General Election Commission (KPU) has appointed 11 panelists for the vice-presidential candidate (cawapres) debate to be held at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at 7:00 PM WIB.

This session will feature Muhaimin Iskandar, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, and Mahfud MD debating on energy, natural resources, human resources, carbon tax, the environment and agrarian issues, and indigenous communities.

"For the panelists, we have received confirmation of willingness from 11 people who will be quarantined this Friday," said KPU Commissioner August Mellaz in a statement, as reported by *Katadata*, Wednesday, January 17, 2024.

Of the names appointed by the KPU, the majority of panelists are academics from various Indonesian state universities. A small number are practitioners.

The following is a list of panelists by background:

Academics

* Abrar Saleng (Agrarian Law and Natural Resources Expert, Hasanuddin University)
* Arie Sujito (Lecturer, UGM Faculty of Social and Political Sciences)
* Arif Satria (Political Ecology Expert, Bogor Agricultural University)
* Haryadi Kartodihardjo (Professor, Faculty of Forestry and Environment, Bogor Agricultural University)
* Ridwan Yahya (Professor of Forest Product Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Bengkulu University)
* Sudharto, P. Hadi (Environmental Management Expert, Rector of Diponegoro University 2010-2015)
* Sulistiyowati Irianto (Professor of Legal Anthropology, Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia)
* Tubagus Furqon Sofhani (Regional and Rural Planning Expert, Bandung Institute of Technology)

Practitioners

* Dewi Kartika (Secretary General, Agrarian Reform Consortium)
* Fabby Tumiwa (Executive Director, Institute for Essential Services Reform)
* Rukka Sombolinggi (Secretary General, Indigenous Peoples Alliance of the Archipelago)

Unlike previous debates, the two chosen moderators are women: Retno Pinasti, Editor-in-Chief of *SCTV*, and Zilvia Iskandar, News Presenter for *Metro TV*.

However, August stated that the mechanism for the second vice-presidential debate will not differ from the three previous debates.
