Presidential candidate number 3, Ganjar Pranowo, urged his supporting parties to utilize the right of inquiry (hak angket) to investigate alleged irregularities in the 2024 General Election.
"If we want to see, prove, and find out (election irregularities), the right of inquiry is the best option, because it investigates," said Ganjar, as reported by *Kompas.tv*, Wednesday (21/2/2024).
Presidential candidate number 1, Anies Baswedan, also responded positively to the proposal.
"We see this as a good initiative, when Mr. Ganjar expressed his desire to conduct an inquiry. We are confident that the Change Coalition, the Nasdem Party, PKB, and PKS, will be ready," said Anies, as reported by *Detik.com*, Wednesday (21/2/2024).
Based on Law Number 17 of 2014, the right of inquiry is the right of the DPR (House of Representatives) to investigate the implementation of a law and/or government policy suspected of violating the law.
A proposal for the right of inquiry can be submitted by a minimum of 25 DPR members from more than one faction.
However, the proposal is only considered valid as a right of inquiry if it receives approval in a plenary session of the DPR attended by more than 50% of its members.
Based on these provisions, the proposal to use the right of inquiry to investigate election irregularities may materialize if the parties in the coalitions supporting Anies and Ganjar cooperate effectively.
According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the coalition supporting Anies-Muhaimin controls 167 seats in the DPR, with the following breakdown:
* Nasdem: 59 seats
* PKB: 58 seats
* PKS: 50 seats
Meanwhile, the coalition supporting Ganjar-Mahfud controls 147 seats in the DPR, with the following breakdown:
* PDI-P: 128 seats
* PPP: 19 seats
Combined, the coalitions supporting Anies-Muhaimin and Ganjar-Mahfud control 314 seats. This represents approximately 55% of the total DPR seats for the 2019-2024 period, which is 575 seats.
On the other hand, the coalition supporting Prabowo-Gibran controls 261 seats, or approximately 45% of the total current DPR seats, with the following breakdown:
* Golkar: 85 seats
* Gerindra: 78 seats
* Democrat: 54 seats
* PAN: 44 seats
