KedaiKOPI Survey: Public Wants Intelligent and Visionary Presidential Candidates in the 2024 Election

A survey conducted by the Indonesian Public Opinion Discussion and Study Group (KedaiKOPI) shows that the majority, or 98.4% of respondents, chose intelligence as the most important criterion for a presidential candidate (capres) in the 2024 General Election (Pemilu).

Besides intelligence, 98% of the public also chose a visionary capres, and 97.9% chose a capres who is close to the people. Meanwhile, the criteria of being maternal and having a military background were the lowest, at 51.2% and 77.7% respectively.

This survey also shows that respondents preferred a capres with a background as a regional head, with a percentage of 31%. Furthermore, 25.7% of respondents preferred a capres with a TNI/retired TNI background.

A capres background as a celebrity was the least preferred by respondents, at only 0.2%. Meanwhile, a police/retired police background received only 1.8% preference.

KedaiKOPI conducted the survey from November 16-24, 2021, with 1,200 respondents aged 17-65, spread across all provinces. The survey was conducted through face-to-face interviews, with a sampling error of approximately 2.83%.
