Based on the latest survey by Media Survei Nasional (Median), the gubernatorial candidate pair for Jakarta, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok)-Djarot Saiful Hidayat, were chosen largely due to rational factors, namely 67.1 percent. Only 18.2 percent chose based on emotional factors, and the remainder had no reason. The rational factors included proven performance (39 percent), integrity (12.4 percent), good programs (8.9 percent), a better Jakarta (3.4 percent), and experience (3.4 percent).
Median recorded a 3.5 percent increase in electability for Anies Rasyid Baswedan-Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, while Ahok-Djarot saw a 3.8 percent increase compared to February 2017. The Median survey, titled "The Paradox of Voter Behavior in the 2017 Jakarta Gubernatorial Election: A Strong Contest Between Rational and Emotional Voters," was released on Monday, April 10, 2017. The survey was conducted from April 1-6, 2017, with 1,200 respondents. The sample was chosen randomly using multistage random sampling. The margin of error is 2.9 percent, with a 95 percent confidence level.
