Median: Reasons Respondents Chose the Anies-Sandi Pair

In its latest electability survey for the DKI Jakarta gubernatorial election, Media Survei Nasional (Median) stated that voters for the Anies Rasyid Baswedan-Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno pair are predominantly driven by emotion. Reasons cited for supporting this pair include shared religion, politeness, being anyone but Ahok, authority, approachability, and empathy. Overall, 60.4 percent of voters chose based on emotional factors. 31.4 percent based their choice on rationality, while the remainder were unsure of their reasons.

Median also noted that Anies-Sandi's electability rose by 3.5 percent, while Ahok-Djarot's increased by 3.8 percent compared to February 2017. The Median survey, titled "The Paradox of Voter Behavior in the 2017 DKI Gubernatorial Election: A Clash Between Rational and Emotional Voters," was released on Monday, April 10, 2017. The survey was conducted from April 1-6, 2017, with 1,200 respondents. The sample was randomly selected using multistage random sampling, with a margin of error of 2.9 percent and a confidence level of 95 percent.
