Presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto announced Gibran Rakabuming Raka as his running mate for the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres 2024). This decision is supported by his supporting party, the Coalition for a Progressive Indonesia (Koalisi Indonesia Maju).
The General Chairperson of the Gerindra Party announced Gibran as his running mate at his residence, Jalan Kertanegara Number 4, South Jakarta, on Sunday (22/10/2023).
"Just now, the Coalition for a Progressive Indonesia has finally deliberated and unanimously agreed to nominate Prabowo Subianto as the presidential candidate and Mr. Gibran Rakabuming Raka as the vice-presidential candidate from the Coalition for a Progressive Indonesia," said Prabowo, as quoted by Antara.
However, Gibran, the nominated running mate, was absent from the declaration. The eldest son of President Joko Widodo is still a cadre of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) and serves as the Mayor of Surakarta.
Meanwhile, how does the public view Gibran's candidacy as Prabowo's running mate?

Of the 46.6% of respondents who were aware, 59.7% agreed with Gibran's nomination as Prabowo's running mate in the 2024 Presidential Election.
However, when calculated from all respondents, 53.8% also approved of Gibran's nomination as vice-presidential candidate.
Meanwhile, of the 46.6% of respondents who knew about it, 35.2% were less than satisfied with Gibran's nomination.

The sample was taken using a random digit dialing (RDD) technique, validated and screened.
Data collection was conducted from October 16-18, 2023, using telephone interview methods. This survey has a margin of error of approximately 2.9% and a 95% confidence level, assuming simple random sampling.
