Based on a survey by Indikator Politik Indonesia, the majority of the public do not believe in allegations of attempts to obstruct Anies Baswedan's candidacy in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres 2024).
"We asked about the issue of Anies's candidacy being obstructed; only 19.9% of (respondents) believe this issue," said Burhanuddin Muhtadi, Executive Director of Indikator Politik Indonesia, in an online press conference on YouTube, Sunday (23/7/2023).
Meanwhile, the majority of respondents (46.7%) did not believe the allegations of obstruction against Anies. Another 33.4% of respondents said they could not answer.
"Because maybe they (respondents) don't know about (the issue of Anies's candidacy being obstructed)," said Burhan.
Burhan stated that the survey also identified several parties perceived as obstructing Anies in the 2024 Presidential Election.
The results showed that 10.1% of respondents mentioned Anies's political opponents, followed by the PDI-P (8.5%), supporters of Ganjar and Prabowo Subianto (each 3.2%).
Furthermore, Megawati Soekarnoputri was mentioned by 3.1% of respondents, and 3.8% mentioned the government.
"But (the parties perceived as obstructing Anies) are a minority; the majority of (respondents) do not believe (the issue)," said Burhanuddin.
Previously, allegations of obstruction against Anies had surfaced several times. One instance was raised by the Chairman of the Democratic Party, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY).
AHY suspected that the Presidential Chief of Staff (KSP), Moeldoko, filed a Judicial Review (PK) regarding the Democratic Party's leadership to obstruct Anies's candidacy. According to AHY, this individual, who is close to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), continues to disrupt the solidarity of the Democratic Party, a member of the Coalition for Unity (KPP).
This coalition consists of the Democratic Party, Nasdem, and PKS. If one of these parties withdraws, Anies would lose his ticket to run for president.

"This Judicial Review is likely closely related to the political interests of certain parties. The goal is clear: to thwart the presidential candidacy of Anies Baswedan," said AHY, as quoted by Kompas.com, Monday (3/4/2023). This opinion by AHY was then strongly responded to by the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.
According to Luhut, President Jokowi would not obstruct any particular candidate. "The President is not as Agus Yudhoyono said. That's completely untrue, I guarantee it. I'm an officer; I guarantee that it's not true, so don't spread such talk; it's childish, in my opinion," said Luhut on the Rosi program on Kompas TV, Thursday (20/7/2023).
This survey involved 1,220 respondents aged 17 or older or who were married, selected using a multistage random sampling method. The proportion of male respondents was 49.5% and female respondents 50.5%.
Data was collected from June 20-24, 2023, through face-to-face interviews, with a margin of error of approximately 2.9% and a 95% confidence level.
