Survey: Public Still Gives a Failing Grade to Corruption Eradication in Indonesia

Indonesia's fight against corruption continues to receive a failing grade from the public. This is evident from a survey by Indikator Politik Indonesia, which shows that the majority of respondents consider the handling of corruption in the country to be poor.

The survey notes that 36.2% of respondents rated the condition of corruption eradication in Indonesia as poor. This breaks down to 29.9% rating it as poor and 6.3% as very poor.

Meanwhile, 24% of respondents rated the condition of corruption eradication in Indonesia as good. Specifically, 21.4% rated it as good and 2.6% as very good.

Furthermore, 30.2% of respondents rated the condition of corruption eradication as moderate. Another 9.7% said they didn't know or didn't answer.

Burhanuddin Muhtadi, Executive Director of Indikator Politik Indonesia, stated that the survey findings should serve as an evaluation tool for law enforcement agencies and institutions. However, the survey also indicates a decrease in the negative assessment of corruption eradication compared to the previous month.

"So, there needs to be decisive action from law enforcement agencies to demonstrate a commitment that the corruption eradication agenda is not poor," said Burhanuddin in a press conference on Wednesday, June 8, 2022.

This survey was conducted from May 18-24, 2022, involving 1,213 respondents across Indonesia. The survey used a random digit dialing (RDD) method. The margin of error (MoE) is approximately 2.9% at a 95% confidence level.
