SMRC: 74% of the Public Confident in Jokowi's Leadership Ability

The majority of Indonesians are confident in President Joko Widodo's ability to lead the nation. A Saiful Mujani Research & Consulting (SMRC) survey conducted in October 2016 revealed that 74 percent of respondents believe Jokowi can lead Indonesia to a brighter future. This represents a 2 percent increase compared to a previous survey in June 2016, which showed 72 percent.

During the first two years of the Jokowi-JK administration, 11 percent of respondents were very confident that Indonesia's future would be better, and 63 percent were confident. Meanwhile, 19 percent were less confident, 2 percent were not confident, and 5 percent responded "don't know."

The latest SMRC survey was conducted from October 13-17, 2016. Employing a multistage random sampling method, the survey targeted Indonesian citizens aged 17 or older, or those who are married. A total of 1,220 respondents participated. The average margin of error is approximately ±3.1 percent, with a 95 percent confidence level.
