Prabowo-Gibran's First Year, Journalists Give Low Ratings

The Center of Economic and Law Studies (Celios) evaluated the first-year performance of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka's cabinet by surveying 120 journalists from 60 media institutions who possess in-depth insight into government performance.

The journalists were asked to assess the cabinet's performance in terms of policy, program achievements, performance consistency, and public track record.

They were chosen as respondents because they are considered to have extensive access to information, sharp policy analysis skills, and experience in monitoring the performance of public officials.

"Journalists can comprehensively assess the impact of policies and weigh the performance of ministers from a broader and more transparent perspective," Celios wrote in its Prabowo–Gibran's 1-Year Performance Report.

As a result, on a 1-10 rating scale, the majority, or 29% of respondents, gave a score of 1 for the first-year performance of the Prabowo-Gibran cabinet.

Furthermore, a score of 2 was chosen by 14% of respondents, and a score of 3 by 20% of respondents. Looking at the graph, journalists predominantly gave ratings between 1 and 5.

Celios also gave the cabinet an average rating of 3 out of 10 points. This is a decrease from the 100-day initial survey, which previously stood at 5 points.

Celios Fiscal Policy Director Media Wahyu explained that this decline in score reflects weak inter-agency coordination, inconsistent public communication, and the slow realization of several priority programs.

"Over the past year, many policies have not shown a tangible impact on the public," said Media during the online presentation of the survey on Monday (20/10/2025).
