IPC: The Indonesian House of Representatives' Performance in Holding Meetings Remains Weak

The Indonesian Parliamentary Center (IPC) released a report titled *Critical Notes on the Performance of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) During the Third Session of the First Year*.

Based on a brief report monitoring the Third Session (April-May 2025), the IPC assessed that 35.6% of DPR meetings during that period fell into the "very weak" category and 25.9% into the "weak" category.

Meanwhile, only 13.2% of DPR meetings were categorized as "strong" and 2.2% as "very strong".

"This indicates that the decisions made in the meetings did not reflect substantive and in-depth discussions," wrote the IPC in its report.

The IPC also found that out of 199 total DPR meeting agendas held during the Third Session, only 172 links were available to access the live broadcast of the meetings.

Approximately 27 meetings lacked live broadcast links. "Commission VIII was the commission most frequently omitting links, namely around 10 meetings," wrote the IPC.

Based on the issues discussed, the majority during this session pertained to religion and internal agendas. Social issues were discussed only once, while issues of women's empowerment and child protection were not discussed at all.

"This finding reveals an imbalance in prioritizing issues in the DPR's oversight function, particularly regarding vulnerable groups that should receive greater attention," wrote the IPC in its report.
