Jokowi's Positive Image Strengthens, Highest in the Last Five Years

According to a Kompas Research and Development (Litbang Kompas) survey, President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) positive image strengthened in June 2024, reaching its highest level in the last five years.

In June 2024, 89.4% of respondents viewed Jokowi's image positively, comprising 68.9% who rated it as "good" and 20.5% as "very good."

However, Litbang Kompas estimates that this positive trend has now reversed.

"At that time, the public seemed not to be overly concerned, although various digital public spaces began to show many criticisms of President Jokowi's actions, which were considered to have played a role in the 2024 Presidential Election," said the Litbang Kompas team in their report on Saturday (August 24, 2024).

"If a survey were conducted today, it seems that the high positive image obtained in the June 2024 survey would be difficult to replicate," they said.

Litbang Kompas conducts periodic surveys on Jokowi's image, involving 1,200 randomly selected respondents using a stratified systematic sampling method across 38 Indonesian provinces.

The latest data collection was conducted from May 27 to June 2, 2024, through face-to-face interviews. The survey's margin of error is approximately 2.83%, with a 95% confidence level under simple random sampling conditions.
