Can Prabowo-Gibran Solve the Nation's Problems? This is What Citizens Think

Kompas Research and Development (Litbang Kompas) conducted a survey on public confidence in Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka's ability to solve various national problems.

The results showed that 83.6% of respondents believe this new leadership pairing can elevate Indonesia's prestige on the world stage and strengthen national defense.

"The international community is expected to pay more attention to the nation's strength, both in terms of national defense and the various economic potentials being developed," wrote the Kompas Litbang team in their report on Saturday, June 22, 2024.

Furthermore, 72.4% of respondents believe Prabowo-Gibran can complete the construction of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN).

The majority of respondents also believe Prabowo-Gibran can handle several other issues, such as realizing food sovereignty, boosting the economy, downstreaming industries, eradicating corruption, and creating more jobs.

Meanwhile, one of the major programs championed by Prabowo-Gibran during the campaign, namely the free meals program for schoolchildren, received the lowest level of confidence, at 57.3%.

Litbang Kompas assesses that the high level of public confidence in this new government's capabilities is inseparable from the view that Prabowo-Gibran will continue the leadership of President Joko Widodo.

This Kompas Litbang survey involved 1,200 respondents randomly selected using a stratified systematic sampling method across 38 Indonesian provinces.

The survey was conducted from May 27 to June 2, 2024, through face-to-face interviews. The survey's margin of error is approximately 2.83%, with a 95% confidence level under simple random sampling conditions.
