Luwu Residents' Food Consumption Deficiency Rate Drops 4.86% in 2025

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reports that the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi reached 4.86% in 2025.

This figure decreased by 1.94% from the previous year's 6.8%, while over the last 5 years it has dropped by 5.88%.

Indonesia's average PoU in 2025 was 7.89%. This means that PoU in Luwu Regency is lower than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needs for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to observe food and nutrition security conditions.

This means that residents of Luwu Regency who consume food but do not meet their energy needs make up less than 4.86% of the total population.

Compared to the other 23 regencies/cities in South Sulawesi Province, Luwu Regency ranks 10th in terms of PoU. The region with the lowest PoU (top rank) is Pangkajene and Islands Regency (2.9%) and the highest (last rank) is Jeneponto Regency (12.74%).
