Indonesia's Indikator Politik surveyed the familiarity of prospective presidential candidates (bacapres) through socialization displayed on banners, billboards, and stickers. The survey results are compiled in the report *Swing Voters, Socialization Effects, and Electoral Trends Ahead of the 2024 Presidential Election*, September 2023 edition.
Indikator Politik asked respondents about the presidential candidate whose image they saw most frequently on banners, billboards, or stickers in the past three months.
The results show Ganjar Pranowo ranked first as the bacapres with the highest level of socialization on these media, with a proportion of 37.7%.
"We see that, for banners (billboards and stickers), Pak Ganjar has the most, followed by Pak Prabowo, then Pak Anies," said Indikator researcher Hendro Prasetyo in an online press conference on Saturday, September 30, 2023.
Below him, Prabowo Subianto had a proportion of 37.7%. This was followed by Anies Baswedan with a proportion of 30.3%.
Meanwhile, 40.4% of respondents reported never seeing the faces of these three presidential candidates on banners, billboards, or stickers.
This survey also found that Ganjar not only had the most prominent presence on billboards but also had the highest level of socialization on online news portals, social media, campaign teams or sympathizers, and through direct visits to communities.
The survey involved 1,200 respondents aged 17 or older (or married at the time of the survey) spread across all regions of Indonesia.
Indikator Politik Indonesia then conducted an oversample in 10 provinces: North Sumatra, DKI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java, and Banten, each with 400 respondents.
Meanwhile, South Sumatra and Lampung had an additional 350 respondents each, and Jambi and Bangka Belitung had 300 respondents each. This resulted in a total sample of 4,090 respondents.
Data collection was conducted from August 25 to September 3, 2023, using face-to-face interviews by trained interviewers. The margin of error is approximately 2.9%, with a 95% confidence level.
