Kompas Research and Development Survey: Anies Baswedan's Presidential Candidacy Will Benefit NasDem in the 2024 Presidential Election

The declaration of Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan as a prospective presidential candidate (capres) by the NasDem Party is expected to have a unique electoral effect on the party. This is based on a survey conducted by Litbang Kompas from October 4-6, 2022.

The Litbang Kompas survey asked respondents about the likelihood of the NasDem Party experiencing a change in votes after nominating Anies Baswedan as a presidential candidate. A majority, or 49.5 percent, of respondents in this survey stated that they believe NasDem's votes will increase.

Meanwhile, 18.9 percent of respondents believe NasDem's votes could decrease after Anies's declaration. Furthermore, 23.6 percent are unsure whether NasDem's votes will increase or believe Anies's declaration will have no impact.

The Litbang Kompas survey was conducted from October 4-6, 2022, involving 508 respondents from 34 provinces. The survey data was collected via telephone. The sample was randomly determined from Litbang Kompas panel respondents, according to the population proportion in each province.

The survey's confidence level is 95 percent, with a margin of error of approximately 4.35 percent under simple random sampling conditions.
