Gowa Residents' Food Consumption Deficiency Rate Drops to 6.13% in 2025

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi was 6.13% in 2025.

This figure decreased by 0.31% from the previous year's 6.44%, while over the last 5 years it has dropped by 1.68%.

Indonesia's average PoU in 2025 was 7.89%. This means Gowa Regency's PoU is lower than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes insufficient food to meet the energy needed for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition security conditions.

This means that residents of Gowa Regency who consume food but do not meet their energy needs make up no more than 6.13% of the total population.

Compared to the other 23 regencies/cities in South Sulawesi Province, Gowa Regency ranks 13th in terms of PoU. The regions with the lowest PoU (top ranks) are Pangkajene and Islands Regency (2.9%) and the highest (last rank) is Jeneponto Regency (12.74%).
