PDI Perjuangan Wins in East Java in the 2019 General Election

The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) won the most votes in the 2019 general election (Pemilu) in East Java.

According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), PDI-P garnered 4.32 million valid votes, or 19.57% of the total 22.07 million valid votes in East Java.

The next political party to receive the most votes in East Java was the National Awakening Party (PKB), with 4.2 million votes (19.02%). This was followed by the Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra) with 2.41 million votes (10.91%).

Of the 16 political parties that contested the 2019 general election in East Java, 8 parties received more than 4% of the vote, while the other 8 parties received less than 4%.

Of the 8 parties that received less than 4% of the vote, 3 parties received less than 1%, as shown in the graph. These three parties are the Crescent Star Party (PBB), the Garuda Party, and the Indonesian Justice and Unity Party (PKPI).

The total valid votes from East Javanese voters contributed 15.17% to the national total of valid votes in the 2019 general election, which reached 139.97 million votes.
