Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights' Assets Reported to KPK, Down by Rp1.2 Billion in 2021

The head of Indonesia Police Watch (IPW), Sugeng Teguh Santoso, reported the Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights (Wamenkumham), Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej, to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Tuesday (March 14, 2023).

The IPW head alleges that the Deputy Minister received gratuities related to the legalization of legal entity status and legal consultation.

"Although the incident is related to a request for assistance from a citizen to Deputy Minister Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej, I say there was a flow of funds amounting to Rp7 billion," said Sugeng, as reported by *Kompas.com*, Tuesday (March 14, 2023).

On the other hand, the Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights stated that he had never received money from any party in his capacity as a state official.

"I haven't received a single cent," said Edward, as reported by *Kompas.com*, Tuesday (March 14, 2023).

According to the KPK's State Officials' Wealth Report (LHKPN) data, Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights Edward had total assets of approximately Rp19.9 billion in 2021.

His assets decreased by approximately Rp1.2 billion compared to 2020, when the total was still Rp21.1 billion.

The Deputy Minister's wealth decreased because his debt increased from Rp4.4 billion in 2020 to Rp5.4 billion in 2021.

Then, his cash reserves decreased from Rp1.2 billion in 2020 to Rp1.1 billion in 2021.

The value of his vehicles also decreased, from Rp1.3 billion in 2020 to Rp1.2 billion in 2021.
