A Polling Institute survey reveals the three potential vice-presidential candidates (cawapres) considered most suitable to run alongside Ganjar Pranowo in the 2024 election.
In an open simulation, the survey indicates that former West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil (RK) is deemed the most suitable running mate for Ganjar. RK holds the top position with an electability rating of 31.7%.
The next most suitable candidate for Ganjar, according to the survey, is PPP politician Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, with an electability of 27.1%, followed by former TNI Commander General (Ret.) Andika Perkasa at 9.2%. 4.1% of respondents mentioned other names, while 27.8% were undecided/did not answer.
“Among the three names and other possibilities, Ridwan Kamil received the most votes as Ganjar's running mate, primarily due to his perceived strong performance,” according to the Polling Institute's report released on Sunday, September 10, 2023.
The survey also shows that Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir holds the top position as the most suitable potential vice-presidential candidate for Prabowo, with an electability of 28.8%.
He is followed by Solo Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka (17.3%), PKB Chairman Muhaimin Iskandar (8.8%), East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa (8.5%), and Golkar Chairman Airlangga Hartarto (4.2%).
Meanwhile, the most suitable potential vice-presidential candidate for Anies Baswedan is Democratic Party Chairman Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), with an electability of 32.4%. He is followed by Khofifah Indar Parawansa (17.1%), and the daughter of the fourth Indonesian president, Yenny Wahid (13.8%).
However, Anies has already chosen Muhaimin Iskandar as his running mate for the 2024 election. The Anies-Muhaimin pairing was declared on Saturday, September 2, 2023.
The survey was conducted from August 21-25, 2023, using telephone interviews with 1,201 respondents aged 17 and above or married, across Indonesia.
Sampling was done using random digit dialing (RDD). The margin of error is approximately 2.9% at a 95% confidence level.
Previously, the Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI) results showed 11 potential vice-presidential candidates most chosen by the public to run alongside Ganjar. Erick Thohir emerged as Ganjar's strongest potential running mate with an electability of 17%, the highest among the other 10 candidates.
