As of December 2016, general bank credit to non-bank third parties, based on its usage, reached Rp 4.38 quadrillion, an increase from the previous Rp 4.06 quadrillion. Of this total, Rp 128.14 trillion, or 2.93 percent, was categorized as non-performing loans (NPLs), up from Rp 100.9 trillion, or 2.49 percent of the total credit, in the previous year.
The largest portion of non-performing loans originated from working capital loans, amounting to Rp 73.59 trillion out of a total of Rp 2.05 quadrillion. This was followed by investment loans at Rp 36.12 trillion out of a total of Rp 1.13 quadrillion, and then consumption loans at Rp 18.42 trillion out of a total of Rp 1.2 quadrillion.
Meanwhile, non-performing loans of general banks, according to their usage orientation, comprised Rp 2.06 trillion for exports, Rp 1.19 trillion for imports, and Rp 124.9 trillion for other credits.
