PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BNI, reported a net profit of Rp5.66 trillion in the first quarter of 2026.
Profit attributable to owners of the parent entity rose 5.2% year-on-year (yoy) from Rp5.38 trillion in the same period last year.
The profit growth was in line with higher revenue. During the first three months of 2026, the lender booked net interest income of Rp11.02 trillion, up 12.11% yoy.
According to Katadata, BBNI’s non-interest income also increased 12.6%, driven by higher fee-based income from digital transactions through platforms and e-channels.
The performance supported pre-provision operating profit (PPOP) of Rp9.3 trillion, marking the highest first-quarter achievement in recent years.
As of March 2026, BNI’s loan disbursement grew 20.1% yoy to Rp919.3 trillion. The growth was supported by stronger low-cost funds, or current account saving account (CASA), which rose 26.6% annually to Rp731.6 trillion.
BNI President Director Putrama Wahju Setyawan said the achievement reflected the resilience of the company’s business model, supported by stronger fundamentals, productivity, and ongoing transformation.
“BNI continues to maintain growth momentum while prioritizing prudential principles and disciplined risk management amid challenging global dynamics,” Putrama said in an official statement quoted by Katadata on Wednesday (April 29, 2026).
Third-party funds (DPK) became one of the main drivers of the company’s growth in Q1 2026. CASA growth was supported by a 39.7% annual increase in current accounts and 10.4% growth in savings deposits.
In terms of asset quality, the non-performing loan (NPL) ratio improved to 1.9%. Meanwhile, the loan at risk (LAR) ratio stood at 8.6%, better than pre-pandemic levels. Credit cost was recorded at 1.1%, in line with the company’s target.
By the end of March 2026, the state-owned bank’s total assets reached Rp1,426 trillion, up 4.75% from Rp1,362 trillion in December 2025.
As of March 2026, the bank’s assets consisted of Rp1,260 trillion in liabilities and Rp165.91 trillion in equity.
