The Saving Willingness of Indonesian Households Strengthened at the End of 2025

The Lembaga Penjamin Simpanan (LPS) reported that the Consumer Saving Index (CSI) stood at 80.5 points in December 2025, up 3.1 points from the previous month.

The increase in the CSI was in line with a 0.4-point rise in the Saving Capacity Index (SCI) to 66.3 in December 2025. Meanwhile, the Saving Intention Index (SII) also climbed by 5.7 points to 94.6 during the same period.

“This development reflects consumers’ growing intention to save amid relatively stable saving capacity, following expectations of additional spending for the holidays and education,” LPS said in a written statement on January 11, 2026.

The SCI component strengthened as the proportion of respondents who said their actual savings were lower than planned declined from 54.7% in November to 53.5% in December.

During the same period, the share of respondents who reported never saving edged down from 31.1% to 31.0%.

Meanwhile, within the SII components, there was an increase in the percentage of respondents who believed that now is a good time to save, rising from 26.3% in November to 29.7% in December.

The proportion of respondents who said the next three months would be a good time to save also increased, from 37.4% in November to 40.1% in December.

Measured by household income group, the largest increase in the CSI was recorded among households earning above Rp1.5 million to Rp3 million per month (+6.3 points), followed by those earning above Rp7 million per month (+3.0 points), and those earning above Rp3 million to Rp7 million per month (+1.7 points).

Meanwhile, the CSI for households earning up to Rp1.5 million per month declined by 2.2 points. In December 2025, the CSI for households earning above Rp7 million per month remained stable above the 100-point level.
