There are 70 State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) in 2023, with the most in the Manufacturing Industry.

According to a report by the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), there were 70 state-owned enterprises (SOEs) in Indonesia in 2023. This is a decrease from 77 companies in 2022.

"The reduction is due to the restructuring of SOEs through the formation of holdings, mergers, and acquisitions of SOEs, as one of the government's efforts to improve the efficiency, productivity, and competitiveness of SOEs," wrote the BPS in its report, *Statistics of State-Owned Enterprises and Regional-Owned Enterprises Finances 2023*.

Based on their business fields, the majority of SOEs operate in the manufacturing sector.

The following is the number of Indonesian SOEs by business field in 2023:

1. Manufacturing industry: 17 companies
2. Wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, and transportation and warehousing: 13 companies
3. Financial and insurance activities: 13 companies
4. Construction: 9 companies
5. Real estate, professional, scientific and technical activities: 5 companies
6. Accommodation and food service providers, and information and communication: 4 companies
7. Agriculture, forestry, and fisheries: 3 companies
8. Mining and quarrying: 2 companies
9. Electricity and gas supply: 2 companies
10. Water supply, waste, waste management, and recycling: 2 companies

The BPS also recorded that in 2023, there were 47 SOEs with the status of Persero (limited liability company), 13 Persero Tbk (publicly listed limited liability company), and 10 Perum (public company).
