Warning! Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki Erupts Again Tonight (Saturday, February 10, 2024)

Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in East Nusa Tenggara erupted again on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 6:06 PM WITA. In the last week, Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki has erupted 3 times.

Based on eruption information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) via the MAGMA Indonesia application, the visual eruption was not observed. The eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 47.3 millimeters and a duration of 195 seconds.

According to the MAGMA Indonesia volcano activity report, the activity level of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki is at Level III (Alert). Observations of seismic activity on February 10, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM WITA showed 17 volcanic earthquakes with amplitudes of 5.1-47.3 mm and durations of 50-155 seconds.

Furthermore, there were 3 low-frequency earthquakes with amplitudes of 2.9-18.5 millimeters and durations of 11-20 seconds, and 7 hybrid/multiple-phase earthquakes with amplitudes of 3.7-18.5 millimeters, s-p 0.7-1.8 seconds, and durations of 9-18 seconds.

PVMBG advises the public around Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki and visitors/tourists not to conduct any activities within a 4-kilometer radius of the eruption center of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki, and a sectoral radius of 5 kilometers in the Northeast direction and 6 kilometers in the East Northeast sector.
