According to data from the Joint Research Centre (JRC), in 2024, Indonesia generated 1.32 billion tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (Gt CO2eq) in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

Transportation: 154.41 Mt CO2eq (11.7%)
Agriculture and livestock: 142.81 Mt CO2eq (10.8%)
Industrial processes (such as cement, iron, steel, aluminum, chemical production processes, etc.): 82.92 Mt CO2eq (6.3%)
Waste disposal and treatment: 58.37 Mt CO2eq (4.4%)
Combustion for non-industrial buildings: 32.72 Mt CO2eq (2.5%)

There is one more sector that generates greenhouse gases, namely land use, land-use change, and forestry (LULUCF).

However, the measurement methods for LULUCF emissions are more complex and have a high degree of uncertainty, so the JRC separates them from the total emissions calculation per country.
