Recent 4.6 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes West Coast of Lampung

A magnitude (M) 4.6 earthquake struck off the coast of West Lampung. The epicenter was located at sea. "The earthquake's epicenter was 92 km southwest of West Lampung, and this earthquake was felt and should be relayed to the public," wrote BMKG (Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency) on its official website, May 8, 2024.

The earthquake occurred at 14:37:54. It had a depth of 10.0 kilometers and posed no tsunami threat. The earthquake's coordinates were 5.97°S (South Latitude) and 103.64°E (East Longitude).

The earthquake was felt at intensity II MMI in Liwa. An intensity II MMI means the earthquake was not felt or was felt only by a few people, but was recorded by instruments.
