Recent 4.6 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Daruba Region

A 4.6 magnitude (M) earthquake struck Daruba. The earthquake's epicenter was inland. "The earthquake's epicenter was 42 km northeast of Daruba and this earthquake is felt and should be relayed to the public," wrote BMKG (Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency) on its official website, March 18, 2023.

The earthquake occurred at 07:14:50. It was located at a depth of 24 kilometers and did not have the potential to cause a tsunami. Meanwhile, the earthquake's coordinates were 2.37° N (North Latitude) and 128.49° E (East Longitude).

The earthquake was felt on the MMI scale in the Morotai region with a scale of II-III. An MMI scale of II means the earthquake was not felt or was felt only by a few people but was recorded by instruments.

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) recorded seven significant earthquakes felt by the public in Indonesia over the past week, with varying magnitudes and depths.
