February 2023, Average Wage for Wholesale Trade Workers in South Sumatra Rp. 2.09 Million

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) released data showing that the average wage for workers in the wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles sector in South Sumatra reached Rp. 2.09 million in 2023. This figure is Rp. 0.13 million lower than in December 2022, which was Rp. 2.22 million. However, compared to December 2021, it increased by Rp. 64,610.

The average monthly net wage of formal workers in the wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles sector over the past five years experienced its highest growth in 2019 at 11% and its lowest in 2020, with a decrease of 10.88%.

According to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the salary/wage received by workers in this sector in South Sumatra province amounted to Rp. 2.09 million. Compared to other provinces, the average salary/wage in the wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles sector in this province ranks 25th nationally.

Compared to 16 other sectors, wages in this sector rank 13th. Meanwhile, the sector with the highest salary/wage in this province is electricity and gas supply, with a monthly net income of Rp. 5.26 million.

The second highest-paying sector is health and social work services, with a monthly salary/wage of Rp. 4.28 million. Third is the mining and quarrying sector with a payment of Rp. 4.27 million.

The sector with the lowest monthly pay in this province is other services, with a payment of Rp. 1.44 million.
