The average wage in South Sulawesi in December 2023 increased by Rp. 519 per hour to Rp. 17,776 per hour compared to December 2022. However, compared to December 2021, the average wage decreased from Rp. 19,217 per hour.
This average wage is obtained from Sakernas data surveyed twice a year by the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) in February and August. The average wage/salary is calculated from both monetary and in-kind payments. Workers without a permanent employer are not classified as laborers/employees but as independent workers.
The average hourly wage for workers in the last five years experienced its highest growth in 2016 at 18.05% and its lowest in 2022, with a decrease of 10.2%.
According to the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the average hourly wage received by workers in this province is Rp. 17,776 per hour. Compared to other provinces, the average hourly wage in this province ranks 18th nationally.
