Sumatra Barat Food Prices Thursday (5/12): Onion, Chicken, and Beef Prices Down

The price of several food commodities in West Sumatra today is observed to have decreased compared to yesterday.

Citing data from the National Food Agency (Bapanas) food price panel on Thursday (5/12/2024) at 15:26 WIB, out of 21 commodities, 10 commodities increased in price and 11 commodities decreased.

Commodities that increased in price include medium-grain rice, dry soybean (import), fine iodized salt, red chili peppers, and granulated sugar.

Meanwhile, the prices of several commodities such as curly red chilies, bulk wheat flour, bulk cooking oil, shallots, and farmer-level corn decreased compared to yesterday's prices.

Red chili peppers saw the highest price increase, up by Rp3,320 (9.1%) to Rp39,820 per kg. Milkfish experienced the largest price decrease, down Rp1,010 (3.07%) to Rp31,930 per kg.
