Indonesia Food Price Update Today: Chili Prices Rise, Salt Prices Fall (Friday, March 8, 2024)

The prices of several food commodities in Indonesia today are observed to have increased compared to yesterday.

Based on the National Food Agency (Bapanas) food price panel data on Friday (8/3/2024) at 11.27 WIB, out of 20 commodities, 10 commodities increased and 9 commodities decreased in price.

Commodities that increased in price include chicken eggs, red chilies, shallots, red curly chilies, and medium-grain rice.

Meanwhile, the prices of several commodities such as farmer-level corn, granulated sugar, simple packaged cooking oil, bulk cooking oil, and skipjack tuna decreased compared to yesterday's prices.

Red curly chilies saw the highest price increase, jumping Rp1,180 (1.89%) to Rp63,690 per kg. Meanwhile, the price of iodized fine salt saw the lowest decrease, dropping Rp130 (1.12%) to Rp11,500 per kg.
